Black And White Hospitality Signs Up Major Birmingham Hotel

One of the UK's fastest growing hospitality management companies has added a major Birmingham city-centre hotel to its portfolio.

Black and White Hospitality has now been brought in to manage the day-to-day operation of the 186-bedroom DoubleTree by Hilton hotel while providing strategic management advice to optimise the venue's profitability.

The first DoubleTree by Hilton in Birmingham, it will also include a Marco Pierre White branded restaurant called Mr White's English Chophouse.

Comprising an investment of £25 million, the venue is located on the site of the former Royal Angus in the Snow Hill area of the city and will bring much-needed, high-end quality accommodation that is representative of the city's status as a major location for both business and leisure.

Part of the refurbishment includes the addition of two extra floors as well as a rooftop terrace and is, according to the team behind the work, indicative of the city's popularity for both business and leisure guests and demand for high-end hotel rooms and facilities.

Adjacent to St Chad's Queensway (A4400), the well-known and popular venue was also a Thistle Hotel and closed just over a year ago.

With a proven track record of delivering excellence through its personalised and result focused approach, the addition of what will be the city's first DoubleTree hotel is seen as a major coup for Black And White Hospitality which was founded by Chairman and CEO Nick Taplin.

Specialising in the management of both branded and independent hotels, the firm's portfolio spans from limited service hotels through to luxury full-service hotels with conferencing, events, health clubs, spas and restaurants.

Led by Hotels Managing Director, Shezan Aslam, the Black and White team will now manage all elements of the hotel's operation.

Nick Taplin said: "Our track record speaks for itself and we're naturally delighted to add the new DoubleTree by Hilton to the Black And White portfolio.

"We work alongside some of the world's leading brands including the InterContinental Hotels Group, Hilton Worldwide, Wyndham Worldwide and of course Marco Pierre White. We already manage other DoubleTree hotels and know the brand well and is a perfect fit for the expertise we have at Black and White."

Shezan added: "The arrival of the DoubleTree brand is hugely exciting news for Birmingham and is exactly what the city needs from both a business and tourist destination perspective. It's regarded as being one of the world's best four-star brands.

"Its location, which is close to the business district, means it is perfect for business people needing somewhere for meetings and to have a Marco Pierre White venue also on site gives the venue added kudos for those looking for somewhere to stay and eat when visiting the city."

Black and White Hospitality Management will run the hotel on behalf of Downing LLP.
